Civil Engineers design and supervise the construction of roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, water supply and sewage systems. They must consider many factors like the construction costs, expected a life time of a project, government regulations and potential environmental hazards such as earthquakes and hurricanes.

Civil engineering is grouped into seven specialty areas such as structural, environmental, Geo technical, water resources, transportation, construction and urban planning.

Structural Engineers create drawings and specifications, perform calculations, review the work of other engineers, write reports and evaluations, and observe construction sites. They can also be involved in the design of machinery, medical equipment, vehicles etc. where structural integrity affects functioning and safety.

Many civil engineers hold supervisory or administrative positions, from the supervisor of a construction site to city engineers. Others may work in design, construction, research and teaching units in universities and colleges.

All Engineering courses have duration of five (5) years.
