Marine engineering refers to the engineering of boats, ships, oil rigs and any other marine vessel or structure. It also encompasses oceanographic engineering.
Specifically, marine engineering is the discipline of applying engineering sciences, (can include mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer science) to the development, design, operation and maintenance of watercraft propulsion and on-board systems and oceanographic technology.
It is not limited to just power and propulsion plants, machinery, piping, automation and control systems but also for marine vehicles of any kind like surface ships, and submarines.
All Engineering courses have duration of five (5) years.
English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
Industries employing most marine engineers include architectural industries, engineering services and boat building companies. Marine engineers can also find employment with government agencies, transportation companies and scientific services.
